Civil Services are the services of government of India (excluding military services). These are of two categories – All India Services (AIS) and Central Services. An AIS is one, where officers are appointed by the Central Government (President) but posted under the State Government. They are allocated with a specific cadre. There are 3 AIS – IAS, IPS and IFS (Indian Forest Service). Central services are those services which works directly under the Central government, for example IRS, IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service), IDAS (Indian Defence Account Services) or Indian Foreign Service (IFoS) etc. Officers of Central services works directly under the Central Government.
It is a highly pretigious job. One can get recruited in the civil services by appearing in and clearing the UNION PUBLIC SERVICES COMMISION (UPSC) examination. The exam is considered to be among the toughest examinations conducted in our country. With proper strategy, smart study and unbreakable will power one can easily clear the examination in least number of attempts.
